The Eco Lodge: consists of 25 individual lodges placed in a circle around the hills. From the lodge there are breathtaking views across the scenic valleys below, which are home to villages of the Tay and Red Dao minorities. The lodges are made of white granite from a nearby quarry and the roofs are made from palm branches. All the lodges are double or twin rooms. All are equipped with toilet and shower facilities, and every lodge has a porch from where you can view the valley or enjoy the sunset.

It's dusk, and as you step out on your private balcoony to take in the majestic view, the hills are alive with the sound of…Wait, these are not those hills but the verdant Hoang Lien Mountains (known as the Tonkinese Alps since French colonial times). Nevertheless, this region in northern Vietnam is euphonious, from the birdsong of the 150 species found around these peaks to the melodious dialects spoken by ethnic minorities including the Tay, the Ban Ho, and the Black H'mong, all of whom reside around the former hill station of Sapa, 11 miles away. The harmony between centuries-old traditions and current trends like this ecolodge makes Sapa a gem of a destination. Sensitive to its surroundings, the Topas Ecolodge has solar-powered bungalows constructed with indigenous materials by local builders and is staffed by villagers from the rice-terraced valley below

Restaurant: A restaurant and a reception will provide the service needed to satisfy 50 guests at a time. In theThai stilt house restaurant we offer a buffet three times a day.

Relax: The list of things to do when visiting Topas Ecolodge is long. However, you are also welcome to just sit down and relax. Enjoy the solitude and the peaceful environment as it is. If you are more into active holiday, then Topas Adventure offers a number of activities starting from the lodge. You can book them direct at the lodge at the Topas Adventure Travel desk.

Walking: We define walking as easy tours on foot with a duration of approximately 2-3 hours. We will have enough time to visit the nearby Red Dao village of Thanh Kim and the local school, black smith and observe the local agricultural traditions.

Trekking: With endless trails ahead of you , trekking and exploring the area is an obvious activity to participate in. Our Ecolodge guides will lead tours to local villages and sites of interest. Should you be interested in multyday treks just let us know - we can arrange it for you. The trekking tours are especially designed for guests staying longer that one night at Topas Ecologde. Trekking tours last 6-8 hours and will take you to remote trails and villages with cultural content, wildlife, fauna and flora and not least the minorities of Northern Vietnam.

Silverstone View point Tour: Just behind Topas Ecolodge you will not fail to see the rough green peak called Peak Silverstone overwiewing the complete valley system. The hike up is strenghious but in clear weather the reward is worth it all.

Mountain biking: For the more adventurous guests our quality mountain bikes are available. The mountain hills and trails are well suited for biking. But remember - down hill is fun, up hill is tough. Mountain bike tours will be arranged in groups and in two levels. Easy level tours last 2-3 hours and will bring you to local villages where you will learn about local handicraft, agriculture and social systems. Hard level tours last 6-8 hours and will bring you deep into the Hoang Lien valley.
